Salesforce.com & LinkedIn Search Mashup
You may be connected to that new lead or connected to someone who works at that new account you've been assigned to. This Firefox browser extension will automatically add a linkified LinkedIn logo to each of your Leads, Accounts, Contacts and Opportunites from your list views on Salesforce.com. The link is designed to search LinkedIn for matching names. (Already have Greasemonkey? Get the script now.)

How does it work ?
- Runs on top of Saleforce.com's Leads, Accounts, Contacts, and Opportunities pages. Doesn't alter the salesforce.com application.
- You need to be logged into both Salesforce.com and LinkedIn.com for the script to work.
- Injects a tiny bit of javascript every time you pull up one of those Salesforce.com pages.
- Locates the area to the right of the each item in your Leads, Account, Contacts and Opportunities list views.
- Finds the contact name or company name.
- Builds new html and a link to a LinkedIn search for the found text
- The search query is wrapped in quotes to improve query quality.
- This script only functions on the Leads, Accounts, Contact, and Opportunities list page
- Has no affect on the rest of the salesforce.com web pages or any other web pages.
- This script only works on the Firefox browser
- This script only affects your local view on your machine. i.e. nobody else sees it this way unless they've also installed the Salesforce & LinkedIn Mashup. The Salesforce application has no knowledge of this script running on your machine.
- Security is not an issue. You are not providing your salesforce.com or linkedin.com password to the script or anything like this. The script only runs on your local browser, and you need to be signed into salesforce.com as usual. This script simply adds the html to the news links.
How do I get it ?
- If you don't have the Greasemonkey Extension installed on your firefox browser, the setup involves 2 steps
1.) Install the Greasemonkey Firefox Extension 2.) Install the Salesforce & LinkedIn Mashup script (rides on top of the Greasemonkey Extension)
- Open your Firefox browser (PC or Mac), and install the Greasemonkey Firefox extension if you don't already have it. Get that here: Greasemonkey extension. (skip this step if you already have the little monkey in the lower right corner of your firefox screen)
- Be sure the little monkey icon is lit up in the lower right corner of your browser. You can turn Greasemonkey on and off by clicking on this icon.
- Install the Salesforce & LinkedIn Mashup script from here Salesforce & LinkedIn mashup
- If Greasemonkey is on, it should ask you if you want to install the script, click the "Install" button.
- Goto any Leads, Account, Contact, or Opportunity page in Salesforce.com. You should see the LinkedIn site's icon similar to the image above.
- Click on the LinkedIn icon-link, and it opens a new page or new tab (depending on your setting) with the search for your company name performed.
- I suggest you alter your Firefox preferences to open New Page in a New Tab. Else you'll get many new browser windows when using this script. Goto Firefox > Preferences > Tabs.. then click the "a new tab" option. Here is a screenshot on OS X.
