| Walking
Directions Find Tenmaya. Walk south along Chou Dori (the only street without streetcar tracks). Go for 2 blocks and then you'll be next to a brown brick building on the corner that has the Asahi Beer Hall on the top floor. Cross this street and quickly on your left will be the entryway for the Ichibankan building. Take the elevator up to 9F and when you get out you'll be right in the bar.

Description When the elevator doors open, your instinct is almost to hit the "close" button and return to the first floor. But after your eyes get used to the dark you can see the labyrinth layout of the bar made up of small little brick walls and wire fences/cages around. The more you look at it, the more comical it looks rather than threatening. If you can, the best seats are over by the windows. From these seats you can look down on the main Chuo dori street below and pass away the hours sipping on your drink and watching the funny life of the taxi queues going on below. I'm usually not a fan of cover charge places, but with the excellent view, it's well worth it. |
