JapanInYourPalm.com

Welcome to JapanInYourPalm.com.  Our mission is to provide western professionals and their families a new and comprehensive information source that simplifies and enhances the experience in Japan. Portable and timely details. In English.

Specifically,  the site has been designed to provide the following services and information:

  • Over 50 English restaurant menus  (mostly for restaurants that don't carry an English menu)
  • Menus are viewable/printable from your browser or viewable on your handheld computer.
  • Restaurant info includes: walking directions, GPS coordinates, and recommendations.
  • Walking directions and descriptions for our favorite downtown Hiroshima bars
  • JR train schedule from Hiroshima to Saijo station (Ford/Visteon), more schedules to come..
  • Links to other useful web sites on Hiroshima and Japan
  • Information on travel around Japan, including Shinkansen schedule
  • Useful Japanese phrases for emergencies, and the train, and more – downloadable to your Palm!
  • Many Japanese language tips and useful Japanese web sites
  • Link to downtown movie theater schedule web site (in English).
  • Medical facilities and doctors in Hiroshima
  • Local weather and currency information
  • i-mode mobile internet compatible version of the site
  • And much, much more..

I no longer update the site on a regular basis, but plan to keep it online as a community service for expats in Japan.

The site was created by Al Nevarez of the Ford Motor Company and Mazda during a 2 year assignment in Hiroshima, Japan (1998 to 2000).  While in Japan, Al was an engine software development engineer at Ford and later Visteon where he helped Mazda develop engine controls for several of their vehicles.   Prior to that, Al helped to develop the engine controls for the Lincoln LS which went on to win the 2000 Motor Trend Car of the Year.

The JapanInYourPalm.com project began in September of 1999 and will remain online as a service to the travel community in Japan.

Check out Al's recent software projects at:

Thanks again for using JapanInYourPalm.com.  We hope it helps you enjoy Japan more than you ever imagined.
