Elegant Shabu Shabu restaurant located just north of the Hiroshima Castle.  The owner enjoys  plants, with which she decorates the exterior of the restaurant.  Interior has resembles an elegant dining room.  A bit expensive, but worth the price.  There is also a lunch special.

Walking/Driving directions

From Rihga Royal Hotel
Head north toward the Hiroshima castle.  Turn left at the castle and then make a right at the next light.  This is Rt. 54.  Follow Rt. 54 north and turn left at the 4th traffic light.  Sunday's Sun and a McDonalds are at that intersection.  Cross the bridge and turn left at the 1st light after the bridge (not the light immediately on the other side of the bridge).  Pan is just past the 2nd block on your right.  Look for the potted plants surrounding the restaurant.  They have free parking.

Shabu Shabu (served with salad, w/sesame dressing or vinegar and soy dressing, (gomatare or ponzu tare)
Ordinary grade beef (gyuu rousu), 2200 yen,  w/additional meat (gyuu rousu tsuika) 1200 yen extra
Higher grade beef (tokujou gyuu rousu), 3500 yen, w/additional meat (gyuu rousu tsuika) 2300 yen extra
Ordinary grade pork (buta rousu), 2000 yen, w/additional meat (buta rousu tsuika) 1000 yen extra
Beef tongue (tan), 1900 yen, w/additional meat (tan tsuika) 900 yen extra
Additional vegetables (yasai tsuika), 500 yen extra

Sukiayaki with salad 
Ordinary grade beef sukiyaki (sukiyaki), 2200 yen
Higher grade beef sukiaki (toku niku sukiaki), 3500 yen

additonal 50 yen for rice gruel with your sukiaki or shabu shabu dish (zosui), 50 yen

Grilled cod fish from Hokkaido (himedara) 250 yen

Stewed beef calf muscle with miso (gyu suji miso nikomi), 400 yen

Recommended dishes (touten osusume menu)
Shabu shabu w/pork w/Japanese white onion and vinegar/soy dressing (buta shabu negi or ponzu de), 1200 yen
Boiled Chinese dumplings with soup (sui gyouza), 700 yen
Tofu cooked at your table (chawan doufu), 700 yen

I'll have the high grade beef Shabu Shabu, the salad with the sesame dressing please (tokujou gyuu rousu onegaiishimasu, sarada wa gomatare onegaiishimasu)

The tokujou gyuu rousu is good.  I suggest getting the extra meat since the base dish comes with very little.   Everyone gets their own personal shabu shabu pot -- Al Nevarez, Ford Motor Company
